Probably you have noticed that magazines, newspapers, and web designers are combining several photos to create a really great collage. Would you like to be able to do that?
With Adobe Photoshop, you can. Photoshop has all that you need to create some amazing digital collages from many different photos. In fact, Photoshop is the choice of professionals when it comes to editing and manipulating digital photography.
The merging of two or more photos into one is becoming the standard in the graphics industry. Everywhere you look you can see examples of this. If you are a web designer, a photographer, or a graphic artist, learning to merge these images yourself will be of great benefit.
The first thing you need to do, before you actually start working on your digital collage, is to spend some time planning your final image. What do you want it to be? Knowing Photoshop is important, but it is just as important to plan and lay out your image before you begin using Photoshop.
In Photoshop, the Layers Function is what you will use. This is great for being able to experiment with all of the options available.
Take time to consider the following things when planning your collage.
Choosing Photographs is important and something you want to take time to consider. Since the images are going to be merged, you may want to choose images that are complimentary in terms of a general theme. Or perhaps the settings will be similar. Or maybe it is the color scheme of the photographs that will help them to merge. Photoshop has an “eyedropper” which will check colors and look for complimentary colors.
Next you will need to consider the composition. You might want to browse the Internet in order to find examples of digital photos that you really are attracted to. Look them over. What attracts you to these images? Is the intended message really evident? Study the composition. What about the digital collage makes the images appear to blend together?
Adobe Photoshop allows you to work in multiple layers. This gives you an opportunity to experiment with your composition. Before everything is placed permanently, you will be able to make sure it is exactly what you want.
