Every worker has the right to be entitled with safety working conditions. Workers those who work in complicated, tough and risky workplaces are at higher level of risk. The HAZWOPER training course has been divided into 8 hour annual refresher course, 24 hour HAZWOPER training course, 40 Hour course, first responder awareness level and first responder operations level.

The 8 hour annual refresher course is for the workers those who work at hazardous waste sites and it meets all the requirements in OSHA 29 CFR 1910.120. This course has been designed for the general site workers who are exposed to hazardous substances or who deals with hazardous waste. The topics under this course includes HAZWOPER regulations, hazardous chemicals, safety and health plans, decontamination, air monitoring, respiratory equipment and site control.

The employees visiting an uncontrolled hazardous waste operation, the 24 hour HAZWOPER course has been mandated by the government. This course cover broad issues related to the hazard recognition at workplace.

40 hour HAZWOPER training is designed for the workers those involved in emergency response operations, clean-up operations, voluntary clean-up operations and storage, disposal or treatment of uncontrolled hazardous waste sites or hazardous waste substances. The topics that are included in this course include protection against the hazardous chemicals, elimination of hazardous chemicals etc.

The first responder awareness training level is for those who have the possibility to witness or notice a hazardous materials release and on time initiate a response sequence by notifying the authorities. Topics in this course cover the topics addressed in 29 CFR 1910.120 and they include identifying and recognizing the presence of hazardous materials in worksite or emergency, defining hazardous materials, use of basic information resources, potential outcomes of hazardous materials and the role of individual in an emergency situation. The first responder awareness level training will help the responders to recognize the presence of hazardous materials, understand the scene and call for the appropriate assistance accordingly.
