What are the onpage factors that affect SEO? Are they as important as we make them out to be in the forums and other places that talk about SEO? The fact is on page factors do have an impact on your SEO but not near as high in my findings as some would like to think. Some SEO programs that you buy act like there is some magic thing you can put on your page to rank number one.
To start off I want to say I worry about the on page factors as late as possible. Really what will move you to the top are the offpage factors such as sites and the importance of the sites that link to you. I really don’t focus on on page factors until I am way up in the search engines. Then I start to play around to see if there is anything I can do on the site to make it better.
There are three factors that I make sure I have before I start working on off page optimization so I can get to the top 10. Once I am there then I play with on page factors to try to get to the top of the engines. The first thing I do is put my keywords in the title, meta keywords tag, meta description tag and then through my body text.
The next thing you need to do is work on your off page optimization. Get a program that will help you build links to your website. Keep using this until you see results. The thing is you want to get your site to the top so that you can compare what tags you have with the sites above you. That is how you test and see if you can move up.
Each time you get to a position, unless it is number one, your goal is to move up one more position. The way you do that is by getting better links than the guy above you or by having a more relevant page. You decide this by looking at what they have and seeing if you can improve. You just need to be careful not to over optimize and that is why we try one thing at a time and see what the results are.
