Try to send your package via the post office and they will not accept it without it being sealed with packaging tape. Ah yes, the standard packaging tape. Forget the scotch tape. Forget the duct tape. Your parcel has to have packaging tape. You will be told at the post office that they will sell you a roll if you do not have it. So do not ask them to give you a strip. Buy it at a discount store or online rather than pay the inflated post office price.
The post office knows its stuff. They know they do not want boxes breaking at the seams. That is one reason they require the strong reliable packaging tape. This strong tape is good for other purposes besides sealing boxes though.
Do you need something sealed but you do not want to the tape to be seen? Packaging tape is a good choice because it is clear.
One great use of packaging tape is on furniture, especially vinyl furniture. You can mend a rip or tear on a couch or sofa with the packaging tape. Because it is clear it is unlikely to be seen. It also helps keep the rip or tear from getting larger.
If you have wood molding that is coming apart and you do not want to hammer a nail because it might split the wood, use a strip of packaging tape.
What about using packaging tape in your car? It is great if you have a rip or tear on the seat in your car. This tape works wonderful when you need to cover your upholstery. If there is a rip or tear the tape will keep it from getting bigger.
In the summer time you leave your windows open. But if there is tear in the screen in come the flies and mosquitoes. Use a strip of tape on the screen door or window to keep them out until you can replace the screen. And because the tape is clear you can use it on security doors which have screens on them. There are usually gaps left between the screen and wrought iron. The tape you stick there will not be seen unless someone knows it is there.
Use packaging tape to secure a flyer around a telephone pole or light post. You might want to advertise a yard or garage sale. Use packaging tape and that flyer will not be coming down very easily.
Once you have a roll of packaging tape within reach you will find many, many more functions for it. The shipping expert is the post office. No wonder they require this great product on all packages. However, there is so much more you can do with packaging tape. We have only touched on a few here. Do not limit its use to sealing boxes. Once you see the versatility of packaging tape you will always want a roll within reach to repair until you can replace.
