If you are a business owner, chances are, you already know about the significance of having a good company website. Websites are critical to being able to compete in most industries today, and while there are a lot of different approaches, there are some specific needs that are common for any company.
Not every business wants to use its website to sell goods and services. Some simply chose to use the website to provide information to potential customers and to give the company a face in the ever-growing online world.
Here we will discuss some key points that should be considered for any company website.
1. Statement of what the company offers
Your website’s audience will be a mixture of people who know about your business, and those who have never heard of the business. These people who are new to you should be able to determine within a matter of seconds what your company is all about, otherwise they are likely to leave the site. The home page should give some type of statement or explanation of what the business does.
2. Easy to contact
Contact information is one of the most important aspects of a corporate site. Ideally, you’ll want some of your visitors to be interested in what you are doing and what you can offer, and this will lead to them wanting to get in touch with you. This info should be very easy for visitors to find, otherwise you could miss out on inquiries for potential business.
3. Branded
Most companies have some type of established branding, whether it be a logo, a color scheme that is used consistently, or a particular image that has been established. It’s important that the website work in harmony with the existing branding and with other types of marketing to give a consistent message.
4. Company info
A part of having an effective corporate site is providing a compelling story about the company’s history, where it has been, and where it is headed. In many cases this will include some biographical information on executives of the company, or possibly of everyone within the company for small businesses.
5. News
Corporate blogs have become increasingly popular and effective. Many blogs are used to make announcements about news or events going on with the company. This is a great way to keep the site up-to-date and to build a stronger connection with visitors and customers.
6. Design style that meshes with company branding
Companies have a wide variety of design styles that can be chosen for their websites. However, the style should be carefully determined as it will have an impact on the branding and messages that are being sent to customers. The style of design should match with the image that the company has established, or is working to establish.
7. Visible
A successful website will also be able to be found by its target audience. Search Engine Optimization is a common marketing method to help the site achieve rankings of targeted words and phrases. Other marketing methods like social media markating, pay-per-click advertising, banner ads, etc. are also possibilities.
